Cycle for Survival was awesome. It started in 2007 with 50 teams raising $250k and in 2012 there were more than 2000 teams and they raised $7.7 millions dollars for rare cancer research at Sloan. It was such an inspring and energetic environment and amazing that everyone in the room was cycling for a cause because they are somehow connected to cancer. Early start at 8am (sleepy eyes above) and Alex kicked us off spinning for the first 45 minutes. I nearly broke down sobbing because it was all just so touching but managed (how I do not know) to keep it together. Lizzie did the second 45, Michelle and Sarah rode the third and I finished it off. I’m proud of our little team Spankle for raising $2000 and I can’t wait for next year. Can you imagine if they find a cure in our lifetime? It’d be pretty damn cool.
These events remind me how important it is to enjoy life and be with the people who matter to you and help your friends when they need you. Life is all about relationships and just having fun. We are so so sooo young and should embrace every second of it.
Ended our day at Clinton Street Baking Co. Don’t worry about it, we only waited for 3.5 hours. Worth it.
